Class Description

Heels Technique: Heels Technique will focus on walking, standing in a heel, and the shifting of weight to optimize lines and shapes which will directly translate into movement and transitions. During Heels Technique, dancers can expect to cover the fundamentals in great detail, while also applying that information to more challenging concepts such as turns or floorwork. The goal for Heels Technique is for all levels to take a step back from choreography and dive deep into building a stable and reliable foundation for dancing in a heel. This is a place to break down transitions, weight distribution, ankle placement, head-tail connection, and maximizing your shapes, lines, and depth of physicality.

Beginner Heels: Beginner heels will build foundationally off of the Heels Technique class. We will apply the technique activated in the Heels Technique class to across-the-floor exercises and basic center choreography. This class will begin with a warm-up to prepare for the heels, followed by a basic run through of heels foundations, and lead into basic choreography across the floor and in the center. This class is open to all levels of dancers who are looking to learn choreography in a heel.

Contemporary: Beffer’s class incorporates flow, classical lines and shapes, intricate details and dynamics, and the freedom to explore the boundaries of one’s artistry. Ranging from detailed pedestrian movement to classical lines to funky grooves - the goal of this class is to truly explore and create a new experience in the space everytime. The philosophy behind this class is to show up as your human self and to allow the community and music in the space to enhance and evolve your artistry. The class will go through an extensive warmup, improvisation, and lead into phrase work. Perfection does not exist, especially not in this class, so come as you are and come with an open mind ready to hit a line, discover the depth of your physicality, and explore deep into yourself as an artist and mover.
