Megatron

Bio

“Megatron”: I am 56 years old and was born in Mississippi, but raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a true underground street style dancer originating back as far as 1978. Being a self taught artist my experiences in dance has led me to co-found one of New England’s original premier underground Bboy dance groups “the Floorlords” in 1981. Started as a street performance group, we have also traveled across the Country. My style is very original, creative, and versatile. I am a perfectionist and my training technique is very intense. My dancing experience has provided an educational platform for my students. I not only teach the moves, but also the roots and development of Hip-Hop from the last 25 years.

Combining the latest in Hip-Hop and R&B, I implement just the right amount of old school to add that extra “flava”. My experiences have taken me all over the United States were I have performed, showcased, judged and competed against dancers and other underground crews.

During the course of my time in the street dance scene, I have educated and trained hundreds of dancer’s in the moves, and history of the true Hip-Hop culture, all the while respecting each dancers own unique physical ability to incorporate into the fundamentals of the true dance styles of Hip-Hop. Dance has led me to understand a deeper root of music, from the perspective of a producer, Dj, and musicians, as it has allowed me to hear the music differently than any other way.

I have been blessed and respected to be recognized by the dance community as an “OG” in this game and have had the pleasure to dance, perform, judge, and compete with other legends, like Poppin Pete, Boogaloo Sam, Mr. Wiggles, Buddha Stretch, and Brian Green, just to name a few. My dancing has also led me to branch out into the commercial side of the business, including Movies; (Celtic Pride), and Television (Arsenio Hall Show, Party Machine, & Chronicle,), as I have also graced the stage and performed with over forty (40) artists, from Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, and Rock to include (Heavy D & the Boys, Donna Summers, Kool & the Gang, Run DMC, Madonna and Areosmith), just to name of few. Even though I am a teacher, I am forever a student, as I learn from my students as they learn from me. Dance for me is life, and life is challenging, and challenging oneself is the continuation “Megatron” of learning. I continue to strive to pass on the history and knowledge, and the fundamentals of street style dance.
